About the Author

John Updike was one of the most celebrated and influential American writers of the 20th century. He was born in 1932 in Shillington, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Harvard University in 1954. Updike's prolific career spanned over five decades, and he published more than twenty novels, as well as numerous short stories, essays, and poems.

Updike's work is known for its keen observation of human nature, its rich prose style, and its exploration of themes such as religion, sex, and the American experience. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction twice, in 1961 for Rabbit, Run and in 1982 for Rabbit Is Rich. Updike died in 2009 at the age of 76.
